The grade is part of the specification
Electrical insulating paper is selected for a defined application and insulation system. Material family, thickness, mechanical properties, thermal behaviour and compatibility with varnish or liquid insulation all matter. A generic paper name is not enough for procurement.
Share the equipment type, approved grade, thickness, sheet or roll dimensions, quantity and relevant material documentation. If replacing an existing insulation material, include the original specification and the reason for the proposed change.

Nomex and cellulose are not universal substitutes
Aramid paper such as a specified Nomex grade and cellulose papers have different properties and intended uses. Select the exact grade from the design and manufacturer’s data rather than relying on the family name. A material’s thermal rating does not certify an entire motor or transformer insulation system.

Questions about Electrical Insulation Papers
Can you quote insulation paper without a grade?
Include at least the material family, thickness, dimensions and application. An existing datasheet or sample reference helps identify the correct product.
Does a paper temperature rating determine the equipment class?
No. The complete insulation system and equipment design must be assessed; an individual material property is not a certification of the assembled equipment.
