The short answer

PCC means Power Control Centre and MCC means Motor Control Centre. A PCC receives and distributes power through incomers, busbars and outgoing feeders. An MCC groups motor feeders with switching, starting and motor protection. Their functions can be combined in an engineered assembly, but they require a clear load schedule and operating philosophy.

Compare their responsibilities

The panel name alone does not define its ratings or construction. Document the actual feeder requirements.

Prepare a quotation-ready panel requirement

For a PCC, share the single-line diagram, incomer and outgoing ratings, prospective fault level, metering and bus-coupler arrangement. For an MCC, add motor kW/current, duty, DOL/star-delta/soft-starter/drive requirements, control voltage and local/remote operation. For both, state IP rating, cable entry, environment, space constraints and preferred makes.

Frequently asked questions

Can a PCC and MCC be in the same panel?

An engineered assembly may combine power distribution and motor control functions. Its separation, protection, thermal design and maintainability must suit the application; confirm this in the design review.
